Hi!
Randi and I
will live in separate houses for the next three weeks, and will therefor write
separate texts.
All the six
girls from Hald going to Peru and Bolivia are now living two and two together with
host families in Lima. The first three weeks we will attend Spanish classes in
Miraflores, a tourist area one a half hour away by bus. Then[I1] , we will go to our respective
places and work. Randi is not attending classes though, since her Spanish
skills are very good. These three weeks she is working in a center for young
mothers. I am sure she will tell a bit about that herself.
So, what is
there to tell after 4-5[I2] days in Lima? Well, it is a big
city, way bigger than all the cities in Norway all together. The bus system is
a bit confusing, I am not yet sure what to look for on the vehicle to find a specific number, since there are letters and numbers all over the place. The bus ride to school is like a sightseeing in the
diversity of Lima. We all live in families that have everything they need, but
the poverty is present nearby. A few hundred meters behind the house I live in there
live people who lack water and electricity. Along the ride the houses get more
and more solid, and the roads get more and more asphalt. Then, in Miraflores,
there are big hotels and shopping centers. Anyway, I am sure we have not seen
the greatest diversity yet.
The
families are very nice, and teach us about the culture and ways of the country.
To end this rather long text I will tell about the inhabitants of our garden.
There is a cage with a group of guinea pigs. I am telling myself that I should
not use to much time looking at them, since they probably will end up on my
plate one day soon…
